The children will save us again!
In these times of COVID lockdowns, and after the assassination of George Floyd, we needed to get together around art, to learn how to reinvent ourselves. Producing a children show in 2021, after #BLM and after #METOO, bears a responsibility to also raise children awareness to these questions. With themes of Kindness, Fraternity and Diversity, our anti-racist version reclaims Puss in Boots for what he really is: all he does is out of generosity and justice. Seen as a cunning joker and a thief, Puss in Boots is one of the most beloved heroes for the children and the adults! He makes his master's fortune by playing tricks on everyone, even the King, but are they tricks or justice? One of the best models of social mobility: our cat breaks down all barriers.
The production was completed with a zoom panel conversation about fighting bias, hosted by Alex Kanefsky, Artistic Director of the young audience theatre company Paper Balloon; Dr Sophie Berteau, doctor in counselling psychology and author of a Doctorate on how women from ethnic minorities describe / construct their well-being; Henriette Mahamane, Flam school director and local government officer; Eric Coulon, Publicist, communication expert; and the cast and creatives of The Cat in (Re)Boots.
